WHAT TO BRING TO THE BIRTHING ROOM

CLOTHING FOR MUM

  • A sarong and/or big comfy T-shirt 
  • Comfy big cheap or throwaway knickers 
  • Comfy clothes or PJ’s and dressing gown to transfer in after the birth 
  • Warm socks, slippers and jandals for the shower 
  • Hair ties 
  • Lip balm 
  • Toiletries 
  • Maternity pads 

ACCESSORIES

  • Your own favourite pillow 
  • Massage oil, electric aromatherapy oil burner 
  • Wheat pack or hot water bottle 
  • Camera / Music, CDs, iPod or laptop / Mobile phones and all chargers 
  • Phone list, pen and paper 

FOR BABY

  • Woollen singlet 
  • One piece outfit/ stretch and grow / Cardigan 
  • Socks/booties/ mittens 
  • Woollen hat 
  • 2x Woollen blankets 
  • Car seat (absolutely essential for the trip home!) 

FOOD

  • Nourishing cooked food easy to digest. Your tummy is contracting so soft easy digestible foods that provide nourishment is helpful. 
  • You may have some favourite cooked foods in your freezer you can heat and eat.
  • Little pots of cooked fruits like kids lunch box products are helpful 
  • Almonds and dried fruits soaked in water over night (these can be kept in the fridge in preparation and are a great snack in pregnancy) 
  • Water, Pineapple juice, Protein drinks 
  • 70 % chocolate 
  • Snacks for Dad/support people 

If you will be staying at Birthcare, you will need supplies for you and baby for 3 days, including breast pads, maternity bras and Purelan. Pack these in a different bag. 

Birthcare also supply a washing machine if you need one.
